Have you ever had an awful vision stick in your brain and you just can’t get rid of it? No matter how hard you try the grisly ghastly image refuses to budge?

Back in September, 2006, I wondered how Lee Redmond managed her toilet necessities with her 3 feet long Not Your Cotton Picking Fingernails.

How does she eat? Can she pick her nose? How does she use toilet paper?

I don’t have to have horrible thoughts like that any more.

Redmond, 67, of Salt Lake City, Utah, had been growing her fingernails since 1979, and made the Guinness World Records with talons last measured at 33 inches long.

But a four-car pileup put paid to her 30 years of watching her fingernails grow.

Can you believe she once turned down $10,000 to trim her nails on Japanese TV? Bet she’s sorry now.

Once upon a time, having long fingernails meant you were an aristocratic, or merely excessively rich, too high in the social ranking to actually perform any work. Now it just means you’re a bit of a nutter.
